The Chinoiserie section, as a type of Asian decor, represents a ceramic stoneware pottery that was developed in 19th century Britain as an alternative to expensive porcelain table services from China. These strong ironstone or earthenware ceramics were decorated in the Chinoiserie blue transfer-print illustrations inspired from popular Oriental patterns and Asian decor; additional colors such as red, brown and green are also commonly used for monochromatic color schemes in commercial pottery design. The Chinoiserie ceramics, and more Asian decor, became in-demand worldwide, especially with the blue and white color scheme that was so adaptable to many decorating ideas. Chinoiserie continues to be loved for both the Classic and Contemporary interior design, and is now adapted to more modern patterns and even more home accents, including decorative trays and plates, ginger jars, canisters, and also fabric prints, throw pillows and upholstered chairs.
